Family Camping Trip

We all had so much fun camping the only thing missing was Nic and it would have been perfect! Lucy is a natural camper I think. She loved being outdoors, being dirty, and hanging out in the camper. She is so much fun. I love this little stinker!

Well it's been almost a month since Nic left for training and then onto his deployment. We all miss him so much already. Lucy will sit there and look at his picture and stare at it. I can tell she misses him a lot. It's the sweetest thing. I took these pictures at the going away party we had for him. He and Lucy and such good buds. Not to mention I am missing my brother like crazy. I am so proud of the man he has grown into and I know he is doing such a brave thing.I can't wait until the day I get to see him again. I love you past the stars Nichol!

My mom gave me the idea she had seen on a blog about this cute way to do a simple gift wrapping station in your home. We just used a over the door pantry organizer and put everything we will need in jars and on the shelves. It's super easy and a nice way to get all that stuff all organized and out of the way.

P.S. I probably should not have shown you readers this because now you are going to expect expertly wrapped gifts from me and I am not sure my skills are going to live up to how good the station itself looks. Ha ha!

Well this little one is now 10 months... wow. It has gone by way too fast. She is such a joyful little girl. Some fun things she has started doing lately is crawling, clapping, waving, saying "mama", she loves riding in her little red wagon and holding on to the sides, she can hold herself up on the side of things like the couch or a chair, she gets so excited when Andrew comes home she get she gets the biggest smile on her face, she has 4 teeth, and she loves to chase Pickles around the house. I am loving this age. She is so much fun to be around.

Seven Months

I guess I should just call this the Lucy blog since that is all I can seem to post lately.

We actually do get other things done in life besides play with Lucy... such as getting things done around the house like putting together my new craft room/office, we are also shoveling a lot of snow (well let's face it Andrew has been doing most of this one).

We are enjoying spending time with all our new nieces and nephews and awaiting one more on the way in a couple weeks. We are also looking forward to our vacation in the middle of March.

We can't wait for some much needed time away from this cold weather.

Some things Lucy is doing is sitting up on her own, rolling over occasionally when she feels up to it, eating A LOT of oatmeal and baby food, sitting in her big girl high chair, dancing to music with Andrew, singing and copying every noise we make, playing with her toys and watching Baby Einstein, reading lots of books, scooting herself around and trying to figure out how to crawl. These are just a few, it's hard to remember everything because I swear she does something new different everyday.

We went on a small family getaway to Glenwood Springs. It was so much fun we went on a hike to Hanging Lake in the morning and then we relaxed in the hot spings pools and Lucy loved the water. She was kicking in the water and talking to everyone who went by. It's so nice to have quality family time.

Our baby is here!!! Lucy Ann Lukens arrived Saturday July 3rd at 4:06 a.m. healthy and wonderful. We are so thrilled to have her here finally. We love her so much and are so blessed. Thanks to everyone who supported us throughout this whole experience.

Andrew and I enjoyed out last vacation as just the two of us before the baby arrives. We had a lot of fun in Tucson and Mexico with my mom and Steve. Temple Sealing Weekend

So last weekend Andrew and I were endowed and sealed in the Denver Temple. It was such a special weekend and especially because some of our family was able to come into town from Utah and Missouri. I am so thankful for this wonderful blessing and to be able to share it with all our family and friends we love. More pictures to come. Last Friday we went fishing in Basalt. It's a little town right outside of Glennwood Springs, we fished on the Roaring Fork River. It was so beautiful and we had a great time. I love summer because of all the fun stuff to do. I can't believe it's already August. It has gone by so fast. This was Andrew's first time fly fishing and he did great. He caught two fish. I was so proud of him. Hopefully we will be able to get out on the river again soon.

I feel like we have both been working so much that the highlight of our week was doing yard work. Wow... that is just sad. Summer Concert Series 2009

So last year was Keb Mo and this year we went to see Lucinda Williams. It was a great night. It is so fun because you bring a picnic and sit out on the grass. I am so happy summer is here, even though it is still a little rainy. I will take it rather than having snow. We went also with my friend and my new boss Lana. She is so awesome and she is the one who turned us onto the Summer Concert Series. It's a good time. I think Andrew would much rather be here this summer doing fun stuff rather than in Afghanistan. We are planning on a great summer together starting NOW!

Well I am sore but what a fun day! I ran with Lizzy the whole time and she did a great job. I hope everyone had fun. We also got to see these Olympian runners who did the whole course after all the regular heats and it was amazing they ran it in under 30 minutes. They are so fast they run 4 minute miles. It was so neat to see them do it. It was like being at the. Wow. I also had my grandpa's name on my back and also my brother who is in A.I.T. olympics right now with the Army. I am so proud of all the soldiers in my life who sacrifice so much for our freedom. Happy Belated Memorial Day!!

I am loving my new camera. I can't wait to take it on vacations and to special events and to just get those everyday picture worthy moments. Today was my first experiment, so when I got home from work I went outside with my doggie, and I think by the time I was done she pretty much hated me. Plus I think I should probably use some human models from now on. She isn't the easiest to keep still. These aren't the best but I hope I will get better. Half way through our trip we headed to Lake Tahoe with Becca and Jerry. And it was Jerry's b-day while we were there. Happy Birthday to Jerry! We only stayed one night so it was was a quick trip but it was fun. It was beautiful scenery. We are so thankful to Steve and Carol and all the Bennett's for letting us crash their places. California Trip Part I

Well we are home. It was an awesome trip. We had a blast together. I am so happy we are together again. We did a lot as you can see. For the first few days we explored San Francisco, and went to meet my friend Elissa and her husband and daughter on top on Macy's at the Cheesecake Factory. We also got cheap manicures, biked the bridge on a tandem bike, and basically ate a lot of great food. There was this place up from where we stayed called The Naked Fish... oddly enough it was sushi (go figure!) and we ate there three times. Andrew was a huge fan.

Even though we are almost to another weekend and the weather is getting pretty cold, I wanted to post these pictures from last weekend cause the weather was unbelievable. It was so nice out that we ended up taking advantage and going to the last weekend at Elitches. It was perfect weather and we had a lot of fun. We even went to a haunted house and got ourselves good and scared. I am so grateful we have had such nice weather before the snow flies. Last night for my mom's last girls night Kelli, Sue, Jessica, mom, and I went to see this movie, Nights in Rodanthe. As you could probably tell from the previews it was the ULTIMATE chick flick, super slow and heartfelt and well I won't give it away to those who haven't seen. But it was worth seeing just because Richard Gere and Diane Lane are so adorable together. Anyway it was a really fun girls night to end our summer and start the fall. And I can't wait for more girls nights to come this new season. Bring it on girls!

Saturday was my sister in laws Homecoming dance. Us girls helped her get ready and then we all took pictures of her. Ladder Mishap

On Wednesday night Steve was using a ladder that wasn't the sturdiest. He was rushed to the emergency room for a badly broken wrist and other various bumps and bruises. One surgery later and one to go, he is not feeling the greatest. We all hope you feel better soon Steve. And thanks to mom who is helping him feel better and waiting on him. Poor guy will be in a cast for at least 10 weeks of healing time. Hang in there Stevie!

Anyway I am enjoying this feeling because hopefully it means I am working something that needed to be worked right? So, I have been using the spin bike as my tool of choice. I will keep at it, and hopefullly meet my goal by November. Peddle..peddle...peddle.

Baby Time

Today I went to Castle Rock to meet up with some of my friends who are also Army wives. Lorin, who's husband is with mine and Jessica's husband was there and she also brought a friend who's husband is in Iraq. They both had adorable babies and so I got to get in some baby time playing with them. Lorin had her baby in April and she the cute one in the pictures. She is absolutely the cutest and her name is Miley. They were both very good babies. I was impressed with how these two mothers have done such a wonderful job even though it has not been the easiest year for them. It is so nice to get together with those I can really relate to and how we can really be there for each other through all of this. I know we all cannot wait until the boys get home safe and sound.

I think it's safe to say that my mom is the most beautiful woman. I am such a lucky girl to have her as a mother. She is the best and so gorgeous inside and out. I am so thankful for you in my life and I don't know what I would do without you.

The Office

Happy 23rd Birthday Nic

Happy birthday to my great brother Nic. He is now 23 and still goin' strong. I wish him only the best in the years to come. We all rode the light rail down to Union Station and went to dinner at Rodizio. It was so yummy as always. Then we walked around a bit to walk off our food babies. Then we finished up at mom's house opening presents and having yet another birthday cake.
